Outdoor Footwear Store
(Sketch)
(Perspective)

Outdoor shoe store specializing in rock climbing shoes. I wanted to solve the problem of buying shoes and then getting home and finding they are uncomfortable therefore I created a rock climbing wall for people to try their shoes out on. The 360 degree rock wall contains interior shelves that also display the shoes. For additional shelving I took wood planks and strung them up with climbing rope, placing the shelves at intervals of eleven inches, and anchored the climbing rope to the floor. The back of the store wall is lines with floating shelves.

The exterior of the store is all glass so that the product and the rock wall draw people in.

The cylindrical columns accent the entry to the store and at the right angle frame the rock wall.

Food Court Dining Area

(Perspective)

The Mall design is inspired by the river.

The food court maintains the Mall’s core design of the river by using perforated felt panels of different thickness and variations in shades of blue to create light play that mimics the way light shines through the surface of water to the river bottom below.

The natural gray cement floor is reminiscent of a grey pebble bottom of a river.

The space is designed clean and unornamented so that the people become the focus, full of color, pattern, shape, and movement. The people are reminiscent of fish swimming up the river or maintaining their position, as the undulating light washes over them.

Kiosk:

The kiosk sells ENO hammocks, their accessories, and other novelties such as paracord bracelets.

ENO stands for Eagles Nest Outfitters and a person may be nested in a hammock. The customer side of the kiosk is made to look like the irregular branches of a tree and is back lit with a transparent acrylic outer cover or shell. Poles at the four corners of the kiosk are at a slight angle to hang different colored hammocks between each to both display the variety of colors a customer can buy while also creating interest and giving the kiosk some color. The hammocks are the only color therefore they become the star attraction and the kiosk only highlights them.
